Kim Song-i was born on August 10, 1994. She is a talented table tennis player from North Korea. She is known for her unique playing style.
Kim Song-i plays with a very strong defensive style. She uses a lot of "slice" shots, which make the ball spin in a tricky way. Sometimes, she surprises her opponents by hitting fast "topspin" shots with her forehand. She plays for the Amrokkang Sports Club.
She famously won a bronze medal for North Korea at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women's singles table tennis event.

Early Life and Training
Kim Song-i was born in Phyongchon District, a part of Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea. Her family worked hard.
She started her education at Ponghak Primary School. Later, she went to the Sosong District Juvenile Sports School. This school helps young athletes develop their skills.

Winning the Swedish Open
In 2012, Kim Song-i traveled to Helsingborg, Sweden. There, she competed in the Swedish Open. She played very well and won the Women's Singles title at this event.
Kim Song-i at the 2016 Rio Olympics
The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a big moment for Kim Song-i. She showed amazing skill and determination.
In the third round of the competition, she faced Kasumi Ishikawa from Japan. Ishikawa was ranked number six in the world at the time. Kim Song-i surprised everyone by beating her.
Kim then moved on to the quarter-finals. She played against Yu Mengyu from Singapore, who was ranked 13th. Kim Song-i won this match with a score of 4-2.
In the semifinals, she played against Ding Ning, a top player ranked second in the world. Kim Song-i lost this match 4-1. However, the match was very tough for Ding Ning, who later said she felt stressed and tired after playing Kim.
For the bronze medal, Kim Song-i competed against Ai Fukuhara from Japan. Kim played strongly and won the match 4-1. This victory earned her the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics. It was a great achievement for her and for North Korea.
