Kim Song-i (born August 10, 1994) is a famous table tennis player from North Korea. She is known for her special way of playing. She uses a very defensive style, which means she focuses on blocking and returning the ball. She often adds a lot of "slice" to her shots, making the ball spin in a tricky way. Sometimes, she will suddenly hit the ball very fast with a "topspin" shot from her forehand.
Kim Song-i plays for the Amrokkang Sports Club. She won a bronze medal for North Korea at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women's singles table tennis event.

About Kim Song-i's Life
Kim Song-i was born on August 10, 1994, in Phyongchon District, a part of Pyongyang, North Korea. She started her education at the Ponghak Primary School. Later, she went to the Sosong District Juvenile Sports School. This school helps young athletes train and get better at sports.
Kim Song-i's Table Tennis Career
Kim Song-i has played in many important table tennis events. In 2012, she won the Women's Singles title at the Swedish Open competition in Helsingborg. This was an early success in her career.
Kim Song-i at the 2016 Rio Olympics
One of Kim Song-i's biggest achievements was at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She surprised many people with her strong performance.
In the third round of the competition, she beat Kasumi Ishikawa from Japan. Ishikawa was ranked much higher, at number six in the world. This was a big win for Kim Song-i.
After that, in the quarter-finals, Kim Song-i played against Yu Mengyu from Singapore. Yu Mengyu was ranked 13th, but Kim Song-i won the match with a score of 4-2.
She then played against Ding Ning in the semi-finals. Ding Ning was ranked second in the world and was a very tough opponent. Kim Song-i lost this match 4-1. However, the match was still very challenging for Ding Ning, who said she felt tired after playing against Kim Song-i's defensive style.
In the match for the bronze medal, Kim Song-i played against Ai Fukuhara from Japan. Kim Song-i won this match 4-1. This victory earned her the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics, which was a great achievement for her and for North Korea.
