Kina Malpartida Dyson, born on March 25, 1980, is a famous Peruvian athlete. She is known as a professional boxer and a National Surfing Champion. Kina held the World Boxing Association World Title in the Super Featherweight class for several years. She was the champion from February 21, 2009, until October 30, 2013.

Kina's Early Life and Surfing Success
Kina Malpartida was born in Lima, Peru in 1980. Her mother was Susy Dyson, a model, and her father was Oscar Malpartida, a Peruvian National Surfing Champion.
Starting Sports Young
Kina loved sports from a very young age. She began practicing Karate Do when she was six years old. Besides Karate, she also played many other competitive sports. These included soccer, basketball, tennis, and track and field.
Becoming a Surfing Champion
Kina started surfing when she was 10 years old. In 1996, she became the Peruvian Surfing Champion. This was in the Women's Open World Surfing Championship. She even beat future world champion Sofia Mulanovich in that competition.
In 1995, Kina won first place in two surf tournaments. She competed in the Men's Jr. category, which was a big achievement.
International Surfing and Studies
Kina competed in two World Tournaments in 1996 and 2007. These events were organized by the International Surfing Association (ISA). They took place in Huntington Beach, California. Kina finished in the top ten in both tournaments.
In 1999, Kina moved to Australia. There, she earned a Bachelor's Business Degree. Her degree was in Restaurant and Catering Management from Griffith University. She also studied Commercial Cookery at the TAFE Institute in New South Wales, Australia.

Kina had different coaches during her career. She used to train with Mario Morales. This was at the Azteca Boxing Club in Bell, California. When she was in Peru, she trained at Club Waikiki. Her coach there was Luis Rivas.
Kina's Boxing Journey
In May 2003, Kina began training as a boxer. She trained under Coach Tony Simms in Australia. Her goal was to become a professional World Champion boxer.
First Professional Fights
Kina had her first professional fight in August 2003 in Australia. She fought against Katrina Harding and won by a unanimous decision. In November 2003, she had her second professional fight. She won against Sharon Bishoff by K.O. in the second round. Kina continued to fight and win three more professional matches in Australia.
Moving to the USA
By November 2006, it became hard to find new opponents in Australia. So, Kina moved to Los Angeles, California. She wanted to continue her professional boxing career in the USA.
Winning the World Title
On February 21, 2009, Kina had her 12th professional fight. This big match was at Madison Square Garden in New York. She fought against Maureen Shea. Kina won the World Boxing Association (WBA) World Championship Title. This was in the Super Featherweight class at 130 pounds.
Defending Her Title
In June 2009, Kina successfully defended her title in Lima, Peru. She stopped Halana Dos Santos from Brazil with a TKO in the 7th round. On December 5, she defended her title again. She won against British boxer Lindsey Scragg by unanimous decision. This fight was in Los Angeles.

Kina's Family and Community Impact
Kina's younger brother, Alvaro Malpartida, is also a talented surfer. He has been the Peruvian National Surfing Champion four times. He is now starting to compete in international surfing events.

Kina has gained a huge number of fans. Her first defense of the WBA World Champion title was a sold-out event. On Facebook alone, she has over 170,000 fans in South America.

Awards and Recognition
In July 2009, Kina received a special award. The Latin Business Association (LBA) gave her the Chairman's Global Leadership Award. This was during their Annual Sol Awards Ceremony. She received it for being an outstanding leader globally. She was also recognized for being a great role model for women and children.
