What it Looks Like

The flowers are a deep blue to purple color. They have pointed parts called lobes. After the flower, a fruit grows. This fruit is a capsule. It holds seeds that have small wings.
Where it Lives
This plant is found along the west coast of North America. It grows from British Columbia in Canada down to northern California in the United States. You can find it in wet places. It likes hills and mountains. It often grows in meadows that get flooded. It also likes marshy areas called bogs. Sometimes, it even grows at sea level in special mossy bogs.
