History of King
The community of King started in the early 1850s. This was when the Evansville & Terre Haute Railroad built its tracks through the area. The railroad helped connect towns and transport goods. The community was named after John King, who was one of the first people to settle there.
A post office was opened in King in 1882. A post office is where people can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years. However, it closed down in 1908.
