How King Got Its Name

The community of King has a special history. In 1887, a group called the Grand Army of the Republic chose this area. They wanted to build a home for veterans, who are people who have served in the military. This home was first called the Soldiers' Home. Later, it became known as the Wisconsin Veterans Home.
