King Yi of Zhou (Chinese: 周夷王; pinyin: Zhōu Yí Wáng), whose personal name was Ji Xie, was an important ruler in ancient China. He was a king of the Zhou dynasty. Historians believe he ruled from about 885 to 878 BC, or possibly from 865 to 858 BC.
He became king after his great-uncle, King Xiao of Zhou, who might have taken the throne from King Yi's father.

Early Challenges and Decisions
In his third year as king, King Yi faced a big disagreement. He supported the Marquis of Ji in a dispute against Duke Ai of Qi. King Yi decided to remove Duke Ai from power and replaced him. He put Duke Ai's younger half-brother, Lü Jing (who became Duke Hu of Qi), on the throne instead.
Wars and Royal Power
During King Yi's time, there were several wars. His kingdom fought battles in the south against the Chu state and also against the Dongyi people.
The historical book Records of the Grand Historian says that during King Yi's rule, the central power of the king was not very strong. This meant that the local rulers, who governed different regions, did not always follow the king's orders. They sometimes failed to show respect or loyalty to the Zhou royal court.
Succession to the Throne
After King Yi's reign, his son, King Li of Zhou, became the next king of the Zhou dynasty.
