Kings Road Baptist Church was a very old church in Reading, Berkshire, England. It started way back in 1640. People who followed the Baptist faith were definitely in Reading by 1652. They even formed a group with other Baptist churches nearby.
The church building moved from Hosier Street to Kings Road in 1834. It stayed there for a long time, until 1979.

Abbey Baptist Church: A New Home
In 1979, the church members moved to a brand new building. This new home was in Abbey Square. When they moved, they changed the church's name. It became known as Abbey Baptist Church.
A Church for Everyone
Today, Abbey Baptist Church is a special place. It welcomes people from many different cultures. Three other churches also meet there.
- Zion Church of God: This church is for people who speak Tamil. They come from Sri Lanka and South India.
- Living Streams International: This group speaks English. Many of its members are from Ghana.
- Peniel Church: This church speaks Portuguese. Its members are from Brazil and Portugal.
Abbey Baptist Church also has its own group. It is called the International, Intercultural Congregation. This means it is a mix of people from all over the world.

The church is well known for its important work. It helps many refugees living in Reading. They offer support and a welcoming place.
Where the Old Church Was
The original Kings Road Baptist Church building is no longer there. The Reading Central Library now stands on that spot. You can find it on Kings Road.

Wycliffe Baptist Church
Another church, Wycliffe Baptist Church, was started by Kings Road Baptist Church. This happened in 1881. Wycliffe Baptist Church is about a mile further out of town on Kings Road.
