Kingswood, Dublin facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Kingswood (Irish: Coill an Rí) is a suburban area in County Dublin, Ireland. It is part of the South Dublin local government area. Kingswood is located near Tallaght, which is the main town of South Dublin, and also close to Clondalkin.

Where is Kingswood Located?

Kingswood is surrounded by several important roads. The M50 motorway is to its northeast, and the Belgard Road is to its southwest. The N7 road is to the northwest, and Katherine Tynan Road is to the southeast. This road is named after a famous writer, Katharine Tynan (1859–1931), who used to live in the area.

Kingswood was historically part of the area around Clondalkin village, but it was also inside the Parish of Tallaght. Today, the Ballymount Road divides Kingswood. About two-thirds of the area is in Dublin 24, and the rest, west of the road, is in Dublin 22. This means different police stations serve these parts.
