History of Kinsey
The story of Kinsey began a long time ago. In 1879, a place for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was opened here. It was first named "Kinseys Station." A few years later, in 1882, its name was shortened to just "Kinsey."
The community got its name from a man named Samuel Kinsey. He was a local business owner who ran a plant nursery nearby. A plant nursery is a special farm where young plants, trees, and flowers are grown and sold. Imagine a big garden center!
The post office in Kinsey served the community for many years, helping people send letters and packages. However, it eventually closed its doors in 1904. Even though the post office is gone, the name "Kinsey" still marks this historic neighborhood today.
