Kirby Bentley facts for kids

Kirby Bentley (born 9 May 1986) is a talented Australian athlete. She is well-known for playing Australian rules football in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Kirby played for both the Fremantle and Carlton Football Clubs. She has also played netball at a high level. More recently, she appeared on the TV show Australian Survivor.

Playing Australian Rules Football

Kirby Bentley started her AFLW career with the Fremantle Dockers. She was signed in August 2016, just before the league's first season in 2017.

Debut Match

Kirby made her first AFLW appearance in Round 1 of the 2017 season. This was also Fremantle's very first game. She played against the Western Bulldogs at VU Whitten Oval.

State of Origin and Injury

In 2017, Kirby played in a special State of Origin match. She represented the Allies team. During this game, she injured her knee, which needed surgery. After the 2018 season, Fremantle decided not to keep her on their team.

Joining Carlton

In October 2018, Kirby found a new team. She joined the Carlton Blues as a free agent.

The Kirby Bentley Cup

An Australian rules football trophy is named after Kirby Bentley. It's called the Kirby Bentley Cup. This trophy is played for by Indigenous girls who are between 13 and 15 years old.

Kirby Bentley was a contestant on the 9th season of Australian Survivor. The season was called Australian Survivor: Titans V Rebels. During her time on the show, fans and critics praised her. They noted her strong social skills and smart strategies. She was very successful at getting other players voted out through surprise moves.
