Antonio José Muñoz y Valcárcel (born on November 19, 1958), known as Kitín Muñoz, is a Spanish adventurer and scientist. He used to be a special forces soldier. In 1997, he became a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. This means he helps UNESCO promote peace and understanding around the world.

Kitín Muñoz's Adventures and Career

Kitín Muñoz was inspired by another famous adventurer, Thor Heyerdahl. Heyerdahl was known for his long ocean voyages on simple boats. Kitín Muñoz wanted to prove that ancient sailors could have crossed oceans long before modern ships existed.

Ocean Expeditions

He tried to cross the Pacific Ocean three times in a reed boat. A reed boat is a type of boat made from bundles of reeds, like giant grass. Two of his Pacific attempts were not successful. He also tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean once, but that attempt also failed. His goal was to show that people in ancient times could have traveled across vast oceans using these simple boats.

Military Service and Diplomatic Role

Before his adventures, Kitín Muñoz was part of the Spanish Army's special forces. These are highly trained soldiers who do very difficult missions. He is also an honorary consul for Morocco. An honorary consul is someone who represents a country in another country, helping its citizens and promoting good relations.

Family Life and Royal Marriage

On October 26, 2002, Kitín Muñoz married Princess Kalina of Bulgaria. She is the only daughter of Simeon II of Bulgaria, who was once the King of Bulgaria. Their wedding was a big event and was even shown in a television documentary.

Their son, Simeon Hassan Muñoz, was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, on March 14, 2007. As of 2015, Kitín, Princess Kalina, and their son were living near Rabat, which is the capital city of Morocco.
