Antonio José Muñoz y Valcárcel (born 19 November 1958), known as Kitín Muñoz, is a Spanish adventurer and scientist. He is famous for his exciting ocean journeys. He also used to be a special forces soldier. In 1997, he became a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. This means he helps UNESCO, a part of the United Nations, to promote peace and education worldwide.

Life and Adventures

Kitín Muñoz was inspired by another famous explorer named Thor Heyerdahl. Heyerdahl believed that ancient people could travel long distances across oceans using simple boats. Kitín Muñoz wanted to prove this idea too.

Ocean Journeys in Reed Boats

Kitín Muñoz tried to cross the Pacific Ocean three times in special boats made of reeds. Two of these attempts did not succeed. He also tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean once, but that journey also failed. His goal was to show that sailors in ancient times, using reed boats, might have crossed the oceans long before European explorers did in the 1400s.

Military Service and Diplomatic Role

Before his adventures, Kitín Muñoz was part of the Spanish Army's special forces. These are highly trained soldiers who do very difficult missions. He also serves as an honorary consul for Morocco. This means he helps Moroccan citizens in Spain and promotes good relations between the two countries.

Family Life

On 26 October 2002, Kitín Muñoz married Princess Kalina of Bulgaria. She is the only daughter of Simeon II of Bulgaria, who was once the king of Bulgaria. Their royal wedding was even featured in a television show.

Their son, named Simeon Hassan Muñoz, was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 14 March 2007. In 2015, Kitín Muñoz, Princess Kalina, and their son were living near Rabat, a city in Morocco.

Special Awards

Kitín Muñoz has received special awards for his work and achievements. These awards recognize his contributions and his family's history.
