Kjerstin Dellert (born November 4, 1925 – died March 5, 2018) was a famous Swedish opera singer. She was also a talented theater manager. Kjerstin was known for her powerful voice and her work in many opera shows.

Kjerstin Dellert's Life
Early Years and First Steps
Kjerstin Dellert was born in Stockholm, Sweden. She started her journey in music at a young age. Her first big performance in an opera was in the 1950s. This happened at the Stora teatern in Gothenburg.
A Career in Singing
Kjerstin's singing career began with a big win. In 1948, she won a TV talent show called Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts. She sang the song Someone to Watch Over Me. This win helped her become known.
From the mid-1950s to the 1970s, Kjerstin worked mostly at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. She played many different roles in operas. One of her famous roles was Floria in Puccini's opera Tosca. She also performed in the opera Aniara in 1959.
Kjerstin was also great at planning and producing big shows. In 1976, she helped create a special show for the wedding of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. This show was held at the Stockholm Opera. It was a very special event where ABBA first performed their hit song Dancing Queen. Kjerstin herself sang O, min Carl Gustaf at this gala.
For her 50th birthday in 1975, she put on a show at Södra teatern. At this show, she sang a Swedish version of My Way. The song told the story of her life up to that point. She even updated the words for her last recording in 2015, when she was 90 years old.
Kjerstin also lent her voice to movies. She sang for the character Helena in the film Sköna Helena (1951). In 1972, she took part in the music contest Melodifestivalen 1972. She sang "Kärlek behöver inga ord" and finished in fourth place.
Other Important Work
Kjerstin Dellert became the managing director of the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre, known as Confidencen. She officially retired from the Swedish Royal Opera in 1979. From the mid-1990s, she mostly stopped performing on stage.
However, in 2005, she made a special return. She played the famous opera singer Maria Callas in a play called Master Class. This performance was highly praised by critics. She performed it at Confidencen and Lorensbergsteatern in Gothenburg.
Personal Life and Family
Kjerstin Dellert had one child, a son named Thomas Dellert. He also became an artist and a well-known personality in entertainment.
Special Recognition
In 1994, the Swedish government honored Kjerstin Dellert. She received the Illis quorum award for her important contributions.
Later Years and Passing
In late 2016, Kjerstin Dellert became ill. She passed away at her home on March 5, 2018. She was 92 years old. Her husband, Nils-Åke Häggbom, was with her. They had been married since 1968.
