History of Klamath Glen

Klamath Glen was once a popular place for vacations and resorts. However, a big flood in 1953 caused a lot of damage to the community. More large floods happened in 1955 and again in 1964.

To protect the town from future floods, a special wall called a levee was built. This levee was finished in 1971.

Life in Klamath Glen Today

Today, Klamath Glen is part of the Yurok Indian Reservation. It is a small community that faces some challenges, but it is also a very popular spot for fishing. People come here to fish in the Klamath River.

In 1978, the Yurok people gained more rights to fish in the river. This led to some disagreements and conflicts with other fishermen who were not Native American. These events are sometimes called the Klamath Salmon Wars. They were about who had the right to fish for salmon in the river.
