Klas Pontus Arnoldson (born October 27, 1844 – died February 20, 1916) was a Swedish writer, journalist, and politician. He was also a strong believer in pacifism, which means he worked for peace and against war.

Klas Arnoldson won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1908. He shared this important award with Fredrik Bajer. He helped start the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society. This group worked to solve problems between countries without fighting. He was also a Member of Parliament in Sweden from 1882 to 1887.

Early Life and Career

Klas Arnoldson started his career working for the railway. He began as a clerk, which is someone who handles office tasks. Later, he became a stationmaster, managing a railway station. He worked in these roles from 1871 to 1881.

After his time with the railways, Arnoldson decided to focus on politics. In 1881, he was chosen to be a member of the Riksdag. The Riksdag is the name for the Swedish parliament, where laws are made.

Working for Peace

Klas Arnoldson spent much of his life working for peace. He wanted to help people in Norway and Sweden agree on things peacefully. He believed that talking and finding common ground was better than conflict.

He also wrote many articles and books. These writings helped share his ideas about peace with more people. Some of his famous works include "Is World Peace Possible?" and "The Hope of the Centuries." Through his writing, he encouraged everyone to think about how to create a more peaceful world.
