The Story Behind Kneecap's Music
How "C.E.A.R.T.A." Was Inspired
The group's journey began with Móglaí Bap. He was spray-painting with a friend before an Irish Language Act march. He wrote "Cearta" on a bus stop. Police arrived, and his friend was taken in. Móglaí Bap got away. His friend only spoke Irish. He had to wait for a translator. This event inspired their song "C.E.A.R.T.A.".
A Song for Their Mothers
In 2021, Kneecap released a song called "MAM". This song was a special tribute to their mothers. It was different from their usual style. The group said they wanted to create something more "real".
Supporting Palestine
Kneecap has also shown support for a free Palestine. In 2020, they flew Palestinian flags at their concerts. They also promised to boycott Israel. They have strong connections with a volunteer gym. This gym is in the Aida Refugee Camp in Palestine. Kneecap has helped raise money for the gym. They also promoted it on their Instagram page.
