Kneippbrød (say it like "k-NYPE-brod") is a super popular type of whole wheat bread from Norway. It's named after a man called Sebastian Kneipp, who lived a long time ago (from 1821 to 1897). He was a priest from Bavaria (which is now part of Germany) and also a hydrotherapist, meaning he used water to help people feel better. This bread is actually the most popular bread in all of Norway!

The Story of Kneippbrød

How Kneippbrød Came to Norway

The idea for Kneippbrød first came to Norway thanks to a publisher named Søren Mittet. He brought Dr. Kneipp's special recipe to the country. In 1895, a bakery called Baker Hansen AS officially got the license to make this bread.
