Knut Holmann (born July 31, 1968, in Oslo) is a famous Norwegian sprint canoeist. He competed in the sport from the early 1990s to the early 2000s. Knut is well-known for his amazing success in both the Olympic Games and the World Championships. He won many medals during his career, showing great skill and dedication in canoeing.
Olympic Success
Knut Holmann competed in four Summer Olympics. He won a total of six medals for Norway. His first Olympic medal was a bronze in the K-1 500 meters at the 1992 Barcelona Games. He also won a silver medal in the K-1 1000 meters at the same Olympics.
At the 1996 Atlanta Games, Knut won his first Olympic gold medal. This was in the K-1 1000 meters event. He also earned a silver medal in the K-1 500 meters.
His most successful Olympics was the 2000 Sydney Games. There, he won two gold medals. He took gold in both the K-1 500 meters and the K-1 1000 meters races. This made him one of the top canoeists in the world.
World Championship Wins
Besides his Olympic achievements, Knut Holmann also had great success at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. He won a total of thirteen medals at these championships.
He earned four gold medals in the K-1 1000 meters event. These wins happened in 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1995.
Knut also won five silver medals at the World Championships. These included K-1 500 meters in 1991 and 1995. He also got silver in K-1 1000 meters in 1998 and 1999. Another silver was in the K-1 10000 meters in 1993.
He added four bronze medals to his collection. These were in K-1 500 meters in 1994, and K-1 1000 meters in 1994 and 1997. His final bronze was in the K-4 200 meters in 1998.
