Kocchi Muite! Miiko (which means "Look This Way, Miiko!" in Japanese) is a super fun comedy manga series from Japan. It was created by Eriko Ono. A manga is like a Japanese comic book or graphic novel. This series is about the everyday life of a cheerful and energetic fourth-grade girl named Miiko.
The story follows Miiko's adventures at home and school. It's actually a follow-up to an earlier series called Miiko desu! ("I'm Miiko!"). The manga has been published by Shogakukan in a magazine called Ciao since 1995. So far, 32 books (called tankōbon) have been released.
Kocchi Muite! Miiko also became a popular anime TV show. An anime is a Japanese animated series. Toei Animation made 42 episodes of the show. It aired on TV Asahi in Japan from February 14, 1998, to February 6, 1999. It was part of a bigger anime block called Anime Syuukan DX! Mi-Pha-Pu.

Meet the Characters
This section introduces the main characters from Kocchi Muite! Miiko. Each character adds something special to Miiko's daily life.
Miiko Yamada: The Main Character
- Miiko Yamada is the main character of the series. She is an energetic and lively fifth-grade student. Miiko loves to eat, which sometimes causes her to gain weight easily. She often hangs out with her best friends, Mari Shimura, Yuuko Ogawa, and Tappei Eguchi. Miiko often gets into playful arguments with Tappei, who secretly likes her. Her voice in the anime is done by Umi Tenjin.
Miiko's Family and Friends
- Mamoru Yamada is Miiko's younger brother. He is very hardworking and often helps Miiko with her homework. Mamoru enjoys helping his family, even if it can be a bit annoying sometimes. His voice in the anime is done by Akiko Yajima.
- Rie Yamada is Miiko's mother. She works as an editor for a magazine. Her voice in the anime is done by Kotono Mitsuishi.
- Mari Shimura is one of Miiko's best friends. She dreams of becoming a manga artist. Mari can be strict with Miiko but is always a loyal friend.
- Tappei Eguchi is Miiko's friend. He often teases Miiko, which makes it seem like he has a crush on her. Even though he acts tough and annoying, Tappei is actually a shy and kind person.
- Yuuko Ogawa is another one of Miiko's best friends. She is known for being nice, smart, and friendly. Yuuko is also Kenta's girlfriend.
