Kodai Watanabe (渡辺 広大, Watanabe Kōdai, born 4 December 1986) is a Japanese footballer. He plays as a centre back. Kodai Watanabe joined Vonds Ichihara in 2023.

Kodai Watanabe's Football Journey
Kodai Watanabe was born on December 4, 1986, in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. He started his football journey in high school. From 2002 to 2004, he played for Municipal Funabashi High School. This was where he began to develop his skills as a defender.
Early Professional Career
Kodai Watanabe turned professional in 2005. He joined Vegalta Sendai, a team in the J2 League. He played for Vegalta Sendai for many years, from 2005 to 2014. During his time there, he played in 170 matches and scored 9 goals. In 2012, his team, Vegalta Sendai, was the runner-up in the J1 League. This was a big achievement for him and his team.
Moving to New Teams
After his long spell at Vegalta Sendai, Kodai Watanabe moved to Montedio Yamagata in 2015. He played there for two seasons, until 2016. He then joined Renofa Yamaguchi FC in 2017, where he played until 2019.
In 2019, he went on loan to Thespakusatsu Gunma. A loan means he played for them for a short time. Later that year, he officially joined Thespakusatsu Gunma. He continued to play for them until 2022.
Current Club
On December 23, 2022, Kodai Watanabe made another move. He joined Vonds Ichihara, a club in the Kantō region of Japan. He started playing for them in the 2023 season. He continues to be an important player for his team.
