Kohei Usui (臼井 幸平, Usui Kohei, born July 16, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender, often on the right side of the field. He spent many years playing for different teams in Japan's professional football leagues.

Kohei Usui's Football Journey
Kohei Usui was born in Yokohama, Japan, on July 16, 1979. He started his professional football career in 1998. He joined a team called Bellmare Hiratsuka, which later became Shonan Bellmare.
Early Career and First Teams
When he first started, Usui played as a right-side midfielder. His team, Bellmare Hiratsuka, was in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. However, in 2000, the team moved down to the second league, the J2 League. Kohei Usui did not play much that year and left the club at the end of 2000.
After taking a year off, he joined his hometown team, Yokohama FC, in 2002. Here, he became a regular player. He played as a right-side defender and sometimes as a right-side midfielder.
Moving to New Clubs
In 2005, Kohei Usui moved to another team called Montedio Yamagata. He continued to be a key player, usually playing as a right-side defender. He stayed with Montedio Yamagata for three years.
Return to Shonan Bellmare
In 2008, Kohei Usui made an exciting return to Shonan Bellmare. This was the team he started his career with, and he had not played for them in eight years. He quickly became a regular right-side defender for them again.
His return was successful! In 2009, Shonan Bellmare earned a promotion back to the J1 League, the top division. This meant Kohei Usui was playing in the J1 League again for the first time in 11 years.
Final Years in Football
In 2010, Shonan Bellmare played in the J1 League, but they finished last. This meant they were moved back down to the J2 League after just one year. Kohei Usui continued to play for Shonan Bellmare in the J2 League in 2011.
In 2012, he moved to Tochigi SC. However, he did not play many matches for this team. Kohei Usui decided to retire from professional football in July 2012. He played a total of 388 matches in his career, scoring 23 goals.
