Kohei Usui (臼井 幸平, Usui Kohei, born July 16, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He mostly played as a defender during his career. Usui was born in Yokohama, Japan, and played for several clubs in Japan's professional football leagues, the J1 League and J2 League. He played a total of 388 league matches and scored 23 goals throughout his career.

Kohei Usui's Football Journey
Kohei Usui was born in Yokohama on July 16, 1979. He started his football career with the youth team of Bellmare Hiratsuka. This club later became known as Shonan Bellmare.
Starting in the J.League
In 1998, Usui officially joined Bellmare Hiratsuka, which was a club in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. He often played as a right side midfielder. However, in 2000, his club was moved down to the J2 League, which is the second division. Usui did not play much in 2000, and he left the club at the end of that year.
Playing for Local Clubs
After taking a year off from professional football, Usui joined Yokohama FC in 2002. This was his local club. Here, he became a regular player, often playing as a right side back or a right side midfielder. He played many games for Yokohama FC.
In 2005, Usui moved to Montedio Yamagata. He continued to be a regular player, mostly as a right side back. He played for Montedio Yamagata for three seasons.
Return to Shonan Bellmare
In 2008, Kohei Usui returned to Shonan Bellmare, the club where he started his professional career. This was eight years after he first left them. He played as a regular right side back for Shonan Bellmare. In 2009, his team played very well and was promoted back to the J1 League for the 2010 season.
In 2010, Usui played in the J1 League again for the first time in 11 years. However, Shonan Bellmare finished last in the league that year. Because of this, they were moved back down to the J2 League after just one season.
End of His Career
In 2012, Usui moved to Tochigi SC. But he did not play many matches for this team. He decided to retire from professional football in July 2012.
