Koji Nakao (中尾 康二, Nakao Kōji, born 8 September 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder during his career.

Koji Nakao's Football Journey
Early Career and First Club
Koji Nakao was born in Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima, Japan, on September 8, 1981. After finishing high school, he began his professional football journey. In the year 2000, he joined Consadole Sapporo. This club was part of the J2 League, which is a professional football league in Japan.
His first game was on April 23, 2000. He came into the match as a substitute midfielder. This debut was against Montedio Yamagata.
Moving Up and Loan Spells
In 2001, Consadole Sapporo was promoted to the J1 League. This is the top professional football league in Japan. Koji Nakao did not play many games during this period.
In August 2002, he moved to Yokohama FC. This was a temporary move, known as a loan. Yokohama FC was also in the J2 League. During his time there, he played in many matches. He often played as a defensive midfielder. This role helps protect the team's goal.
Return to Consadole and Later Clubs
Koji Nakao returned to Consadole Sapporo in 2003. The club had been relegated back to the J2 League. He continued to play many games as a defensive midfielder. His time with Consadole Sapporo ended in August 2004.
Later in August 2004, he joined Shizuoka FC. This club played in the Japanese Regional Leagues. These leagues are below the professional J.League.
In 2006, Koji Nakao moved to another Regional Leagues club, FC Gifu. He played many matches for them. FC Gifu was then promoted to the Japan Football League in 2007. This league is a step up from the Regional Leagues.
His final club was Azul Claro Numazu. He joined them in 2008. This team was in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues. Koji Nakao decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2010 season.
