Koji Nakao (中尾 康二, Nakao Kōji, born 8 September 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder during his career. Nakao started his professional journey in 2000 with Consadole Sapporo. He also played for other Japanese clubs like Yokohama FC, Shizuoka FC, FC Gifu, and Azul Claro Numazu. He retired from playing football at the end of the 2010 season.

Koji Nakao's Football Journey
Early Career and First Club
Koji Nakao was born in Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima, Japan, on September 8, 1981. After finishing high school, he began his professional football career. In the year 2000, he joined Consadole Sapporo. This club was part of the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football division.
His first game was on April 23, 2000. He came into the match as a substitute midfielder. This debut was against Montedio Yamagata.
Moving Between Clubs
In 2001, Consadole Sapporo was promoted to the J1 League. This is Japan's top football league. However, Koji Nakao did not play many games during this time.
In August 2002, he moved to Yokohama FC. This was a J2 League club. He joined them on a temporary loan. At Yokohama FC, he played in many matches. He often played as a defensive midfielder. This position helps protect the team's goal.
Return to Consadole Sapporo
Koji Nakao returned to Consadole Sapporo in 2003. The club had been moved back down to the J2 League. He continued to play many games as a defensive midfielder. His time with the club ended in August 2004.
Later Career and Retirement

He then moved to another Regional Leagues club, FC Gifu, in 2006. He played many games for FC Gifu. The club performed well and was promoted to the Japan Football League in 2007.
In 2008, Koji Nakao joined Azul Claro Numazu. This club was in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues. These are even lower-level leagues. He played for Azul Claro Numazu until the end of the 2010 season. After that, he decided to retire from playing professional football.
