Konstantinos Agathophron Nikolopoulos (born around 1786, died June 12, 1841) was a Greek composer (someone who writes music) and a philologist (someone who studies language and literature). He also worked with Adamantios Korais, a famous Greek scholar.

His Life and Work

Konstantinos Nikolopoulos was born in Smyrna, a city in the Ottoman Empire (which is now part of Turkey). He later grew up in Paris. He was known as a "Renaissance Man" because he had many different skills and talents. For a big part of his life, he worked as a librarian at the French Institute in Paris.

He was also a member of the Philiki Etaireia. This was a secret Greek organization that worked to free the Greeks from the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Konstantinos Nikolopoulos passed away in Paris when he was 55 years old. He gave his large collection of books to the town of Andritsaina, which was his father's hometown.

What Music Did He Write?

A researcher named Josef Fink helped make Nikolopoulos's music more known in 1980. Some of Nikolopoulos's musical pieces were based on old texts from Ancient Greece. He also wrote religious music.
