Koos Meinderts (born on January 20, 1953) is a famous Dutch writer. He is best known for writing many wonderful books for children.
Koos Meinderts: A Writer's Journey
Koos Meinderts began his writing career in 1983. His very first children's book was titled Mooi meegenomen. This book marked his "debut," which means it was his first published work.
Winning Important Awards
Koos Meinderts has won several big awards for his books. These awards show how much people love his stories. In 2016, he won the Boekenleeuw award for his book De zee zien. This is a special award given in Belgium.
The next year, in 2017, he won the Gouden Griffel for his book Naar het noorden. The Gouden Griffel is one of the most important Dutch awards for children's books.
Koos Meinderts also won the Vlag en Wimpel award three times. He received it in 2003 for Keizer en de verhalenvader. In 2018, he won it again for Dag poes!, working with other writers like Bette Westera. His third Vlag en Wimpel award came in 2019 for De schelmenstreken van Reinaert de Vos.
Books Made into Movies
In 2019, one of his books became a movie! His book De Club van Lelijke Kinderen was made into a film. The movie was directed by Jonathan Elbers.
