Kori Carter, born on June 3, 1992, is an amazing American athlete. She is known for her skills in track and field, especially in races where runners jump over barriers called hurdles. In 2017, Kori became the World Champion in the 400 meters hurdles event. She was also a nine-time All-American during her time at Stanford University.

Early Running Days
While Kori was a student at Claremont High School (Claremont, California) in Claremont, California, she was already a star. She won the top hurdles titles at the CIF California State Meet two years in a row, in 2009 and 2010. She also won the 300 hurdles race in 2008. Kori was so good that she made it to the finals in both hurdles races every year she was in high school, starting from her freshman year in 2007.
College Achievements
Kori Carter continued her impressive running career at Stanford University. She was recognized as an All-American nine times, which means she was one of the best college athletes in the country.
On June 8, 2013, as a junior, Kori won the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 400 metres hurdles. She set a new college record with a time of 53.21 seconds! This amazing time was one of the fastest ever recorded by a woman in the event. In 2023, Kori was honored by being added to the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame.
Professional Career
After college, Kori Carter became a professional athlete. She continued to compete in major track and field events.
In 2014, Kori won the 400 meter hurdles at the 2014 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This was a big win for her.
At the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Kori finished third in the 400 m hurdles. This earned her a spot to represent the United States at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China.
In 2016, Kori competed at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials (track and field) in Eugene, Oregon. She placed fourth in the 400 m hurdles, but unfortunately, she did not qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
However, Kori did not give up! At the 2017 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, she placed third in the 400 m hurdles. This qualified her to represent the U.S. again at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London. There, she achieved her biggest victory, winning the world championship title in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 53.08 seconds!
Kori also competed in other events. In 2018, she placed ninth in the 60 m hurdles at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Later that year, she finished sixth in the 100 m hurdles at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
