Kosei Shibasaki (柴崎 晃誠, Shibasaki Kōsei, born August 28, 1984 in Nagasaki) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as an attacking midfielder. Kosei Shibasaki played for several well-known Japanese clubs. These included Tokyo Verdy, Kawasaki Frontale, Tokushima Vortis, and most notably Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Kosei Shibasaki played in over 500 matches during his career. He scored more than 50 goals from his midfield position. He was a key player for Sanfrecce Hiroshima when they won the J1 League in 2015. They also won the Japanese Super Cup in 2016. He spent ten seasons with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Kosei announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2023 season.
In June 2011, Kosei Shibasaki was called up to the Japan squad. This was for a match against Peru. However, he did not play in that game.

Kosei Shibasaki's Football Journey
Starting Out and Early Clubs
Kosei Shibasaki began his football journey in high school. He then played for Kokushikan University. After university, he joined his first professional club, Tokyo Verdy, in 2007. He played many games for Tokyo Verdy, scoring 11 goals.
In 2011, Kosei moved to Kawasaki Frontale. He played there for a couple of years. He even had a short loan spell back at Tokyo Verdy in 2012. After that, he joined Tokushima Vortis in 2013.
Time with Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Kosei Shibasaki joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2014. This was where he spent the longest part of his career. He played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima for ten seasons. During his time there, he played in 233 league matches. He scored 26 goals for the club.
He was a very important part of the team. They won the J1 League title in 2015. They also won the Japanese Super Cup in 2016. Kosei helped the team reach the final of the J.League Cup in 2014. He also helped them win the J.League Cup in 2022. He retired from professional football at the end of the 2023 season.
