Kraftkar is a special type of blue cheese that comes from Tingvoll in Nordmøre, a region in Western Norway. It is made from rich cow's milk and cream. To give it its unique blue veins and strong flavor, a special kind of mold called Penicillium roqueforti is added.
The name Kraftkar means "strongman" in Norwegian. This name comes from a legend about a farmhand named Tore Nordbø, who was known for his amazing strength and large size.
