Kristopher "Kris" King, born on February 18, 1966, is a Canadian who used to play professional ice hockey. He was a forward in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 14 seasons. Kris played for several famous teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Chicago Blackhawks. In 1996, he won a special award called the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. Kris also started his own summer camp, the Kris King Hockey School, in Gravenhurst, Ontario, back in 1987. He stopped playing hockey professionally on December 3, 2000.

Today, Kris King works for the National Hockey League itself. He is a Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations. He works at the NHL's main office in Toronto, helping to manage how the game is played.

Kris King's Hockey Career

Kris King was drafted by the Washington Capitals in 1984. He was the 80th player picked overall that year. He started his professional hockey career in 1987.

Playing for NHL Teams

Kris King played for many different teams during his time in the NHL. He started with the Detroit Red Wings. Later, he played for the New York Rangers. He also spent time with the Winnipeg Jets.

After that, he joined the Phoenix Coyotes. He then played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. His last team was the Chicago Blackhawks. He retired from playing hockey in December 2000.

Winning the King Clancy Memorial Trophy

In 1996, Kris King received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. This award is given to the NHL player who best shows leadership qualities on and off the ice. It also recognizes players who have made important humanitarian contributions to their communities. This shows Kris was a great role model.

Kris King Hockey School

Kris King also started a summer camp for young hockey players. It's called the Kris King Hockey School. He opened it in 1987 in Gravenhurst, Ontario. This camp helps young players learn and improve their hockey skills.

Life After Playing Hockey
