In 1805, Krumbach became part of Bavaria. Ninety years later, in 1895, it officially became a town. In 1902, a nearby village called Hürben joined Krumbach. Hürben used to have many Jewish residents.
Until 1972, Krumbach was the main town of its own district. Later, several smaller villages joined Krumbach. These included Hohenraunau, Billenhausen, Hirschfelden, Edenhausen, Attenhausen, and Niederraunau.
About one kilometer east of Krumbach is a health resort called the Krumbad. It is the oldest health resort in the Swabia region. People have gone there for health and relaxation for a very long time.
What Does Krumbach's Coat of Arms Mean?
The town's coat of arms uses red and white colors. It shows a wavy silver line on a red background. These colors and the wavy line remind people of two things:
- The town's long history with the Habsburg family.
- The name "Krumbach" means "crooked stream." The wavy line shows the bends and turns of the Kammel river, which flows through the town.
