Kuhmoinen facts for kids
Kuhmoinen is a small town in Central Finland. It is a municipality, which is like a local government area. About 2,400 people lived there in early 2014. Kuhmoinen is surrounded by other towns such as Jämsä, Kangasala, and Padasjoki.
Nature and Lakes
Kuhmoinen is famous for its beautiful nature. It has many lakes, actually 316 of them! The town is located on the western shore of Lake Päijänne. Lake Päijänne is one of the largest lakes in Finland.
Major Lakes
Besides Lake Päijänne, two other big lakes in Kuhmoinen are Vehkajärvi and Isojärvi. These lakes are great for fishing, boating, and enjoying the outdoors.
Isojärvi National Park
Part of Kuhmoinen is home to the Isojärvi National Park. This park is located on the southern side of Lake Isojärvi. It is a wonderful place to explore nature. You can find old forests, clear waters, and hiking trails there. It is a perfect spot for adventures and seeing Finnish wildlife.
