Kunar Valley facts for kids
Kunar Valley is a valley located in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Afghanistan, the valley is mostly narrow with tall, rocky mountains on both sides. The Kunar River flows through the middle of the valley, heading south to join the Kabul River.
Local farmers grow food to feed their families. They also raise goats. There are only a few small forests left in some side valleys. Sadly, more than 95% of the valley's original forests have been cut down. In higher areas, you can find some grassy mountain meadows. Overall, the Kunar Valley is a dry, rocky, and steep place, with the fast-moving, muddy Kunar River being its most important natural feature.
