Exploring Kunene's Geography
Kunene is known for its unique and often dry landscapes. It covers a huge area of about 115,260 square kilometers. This makes it one of Namibia's largest regions. Despite its size, it has a smaller population compared to other areas.
Borders and Natural Features
The region's northern border is defined by the Kunene River. This river is a vital water source in an otherwise arid land. The western side of Kunene stretches along the Atlantic Ocean. This coastal area is part of the famous Skeleton Coast.
How Kunene is Governed
Like other parts of Namibia, Kunene is divided into smaller areas. These areas help manage the region and its people. The main city, Opuwo, is where the regional government is based.
Local Divisions: Constituencies
The Kunene Region is split into seven smaller parts called constituencies. Think of these as local districts. Each constituency helps manage local services and represents the people living there.
