Kurt Leichtweiß was a German mathematician who lived from 1927 to 2013. He was an expert in special areas of math called convex geometry and differential geometry.
A Life in Mathematics
Kurt Leichtweiß was born on March 2, 1927, in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany. Even when he was still in high school in 1944, he visited the Oberwolfach Research Institute for Mathematics. This visit helped him become even more interested in math.
He went to college at the University of Freiburg and ETH Zurich to study mathematics. He learned from important math teachers like Emanuel Sperner and Wilhelm Süss.
After college, he taught at the University of Freiburg. In 1963, he became a professor at TU Berlin. Later, from 1970 until he retired in 1995, he was a professor at the University of Stuttgart.
