Kutcha Edwards, born in 1965, is a talented Aboriginal Australian singer and songwriter. He is well-known for his powerful music and storytelling. In the 1990s, he was a member of the band Blackfire. Today, he leads the Kutcha Edwards Band and is also part of The Black Arm Band. Kutcha has received many honors, including being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2023 Music Victoria Awards. He also won the prestigious Melbourne Prize for Music in 2016.

Early Life and Background
Kutcha Edwards was born in Balranald, New South Wales, Australia, in 1965. He is a Mutti Mutti man. When he was just 18 months old, he was taken from his parents. This was part of a sad time in history known as the Stolen Generations.
Music Career Highlights
Kutcha Edwards started his music journey in 1991 with a band called Watbalimba. Later, he joined the band Blackfire and performed with them throughout the 1990s.
He helped write new words for a version of "Advance Australia Fair". He worked with singer Judith Durham on this project. He sang the anthem with her and also released his own solo version.
In October 2012, Kutcha released his third album, Blak & Blu. This album featured other great musicians like Jeff Lang and Dan Sultan. Kutcha Edwards now leads his own group, the Kutcha Edwards Band. He is also a member of The Black Arm Band, a group that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through music.

Kutcha Edwards has appeared on the SBS TV show RocKwiz as a guest.
He also had his own docu-series called Kutcha's Koorioke. This show was made for NITV, a channel that shares Indigenous stories. The series ran for two seasons, in 2019 and 2022. Each episode was short, about 6 or 7 minutes long. Many other actors and musicians appeared on the show, including Jack Charles, Archie Roach, and Alice Skye.
Awards and Recognitions
Kutcha Edwards has received many important awards for his music and his work.
- In 2001, he was named Indigenous Person of the Year at the NAIDOC Awards.
- In the same year, he won a Deadly award for Male Artist of the Year.
- In 2016, he was honored with the Melbourne Prize for Music. He also received a Distinguished Musicians Fellowship.
