Kwame Watson-Siriboe's Soccer Journey
Playing in College
Kwame Watson-Siriboe went to Canyon High School. He played club soccer with the Pateadores Soccer Club. After high school, he played college soccer at the University of Connecticut. He was part of the UConn Huskies team.
Kwame played in over 60 games for the Huskies. In 2009, his senior year, he scored three goals. He was recognized for his hard work. In 2007, he received the Eric S. Lund Award for being the team's most improved player. In 2009, he was named the Big East Co-Defender of the Year. This showed he was one of the best defenders in his college league.
While in college, he also played one game for the Westchester Flames. This was in a league called the USL Premier Development League.
Starting Professional Soccer
In 2010, Kwame Watson-Siriboe was chosen by the Chicago Fire in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. This draft is how professional soccer teams pick new players. He was the 26th player picked overall.
He played his first professional game on April 3, 2010. It was a match against the Colorado Rapids.
Moving to Different Teams
Kwame was loaned to FC Tampa Bay in 2011. This meant he played for them for a short time. He made his debut for Tampa on June 4. After the 2011 season, he returned to Chicago Fire.
In 2012, he moved to Real Salt Lake. Then, in 2014, he was traded to New York City FC. After leaving New York City FC, he later signed with Orange County Blues in 2016.
In 2017, Kwame joined Indy Eleven. His last known club was KTP in Finland, which he joined in 2018.
Playing for His Country
Kwame Watson-Siriboe also played for the United States' national team. He was a member of the U18 national team. In 2004, this team traveled to Argentina for games.
