Kyōko Kagawa (香川 京子, Kagawa Kyōko, born 5 December 1931) is a famous Japanese actress. She has been acting for over 70 years! She worked with many well-known directors like Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi, and Yasujirō Ozu. You might know her from movies such as Tokyo Story, Mothra, and High and Low.

About Kyōko Kagawa
Kyōko Kagawa was born in a place called Asō in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. This area is now known as Namegata. She finished high school in Tokyo in 1949. She became an actress after being discovered in a "New Face Nomination" contest. This contest was run by the Tokyo Shimbun newspaper. Her first movie was Mado kara tobidase in 1950.
Her Acting Career
Kyōko Kagawa has acted in many, many films. She worked with some of the most famous Japanese film directors. These include Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi, and Yasujirō Ozu. She also worked with Mikio Naruse and Kinuyo Tanaka. She was a very busy actress!
In 1963, Kyōko Kagawa got married. After acting in the movie Red Beard in 1965, she moved to New York City. Her husband was a reporter for the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, and his job took them there. When she returned to Japan, she acted in TV shows. Later, she appeared in movies again, like Karei-naru Ichizoku in 1974.
In 2011, a special event honored her long career. The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo held an exhibition just for her. This showed how much she contributed to Japanese cinema.
