Kyana is a small, unincorporated community in Dubois County, Indiana. It is located in Jackson Township along Indiana State Road 64. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a shared identity but no local government.

History of Kyana

Kyana was officially planned and laid out in 1883. The town used to have its own ZIP code until 1980.

How Kyana Started

The town grew because a new railroad was being built nearby. This was the Louisville, Evansville & St. Louis Railroad. A company called Louisville Mining & Manufacturing started the town. The name 'Kyana' comes from two states. 'Ky' is short for Kentucky, and 'ana' is from Indiana.
