The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) is a special school in Kyiv, Ukraine. It teaches students about economics and business. KSE started in 1996. It was founded by the Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC) and the Eurasia Foundation.

Students at KSE can even get a degree from the University of Houston in the United States. This is because KSE has a special agreement with them. The teachers at KSE have special degrees from top universities in the USA and Europe. The current president of KSE is Tymofiy Mylovanov.

KSE's main goal is to help build a strong future for Ukraine's economy. Over 700 students have graduated from KSE. Many of them have gone on to get even higher degrees from famous universities around the world.

What Students Learn at KSE

The courses at KSE are similar to those in top schools in North America and Western Europe. Students use English textbooks and can access many modern learning tools. They can also use online libraries like JSTOR and EBSCOHOST.

If students get good grades (a "B" or higher), they can also get a degree from the University of Houston in the USA. This is in addition to their KSE diploma. The best students might get help with their tuition fees. They can also become a "teacher assistant" in their second year.

Special Centers at KSE

Besides its main programs, KSE also has two special centers:

  • Centre for Excellence in Economic Journalism: This center helps people learn how to write about economics. Andrii Ianitskyi, a Ukrainian journalist, is its director.
  • Centre of Excellence in Procurement: This center focuses on smart ways to buy things for businesses or governments.

How KSE is Managed

KSE is run by a group called the Board of Directors. This board makes sure the school is doing well and follows all the rules. The board is led by Yegor Grygorenko. Many important people from different organizations and companies are part of this board. They meet every year to talk about KSE's progress and challenges.

A group called the International Academic Board checks the quality of KSE's master's programs. Yurii Gorodnichenko from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, leads this board. A very famous person, Roger Myerson, is also a member. He won the Nobel Prize in 2007 for his work on how people can work together efficiently, even when they have different information.
