Kyle's Snowboarding Journey

Kyle Mack was born in Royal Oak, Michigan. However, he considers West Bloomfield his hometown. His journey into snowboarding began very early, at just three years old. He loved to ride down his driveway every time it snowed.

His parents wanted to make skiing a weekend tradition. But Kyle really disliked skiing. He said he had some bad falls and would throw tantrums because he didn't want to ski. This led his dad to put him on a snowboard instead.

Early Days and Big Breaks

By age five, Kyle was regularly snowboarding at Alpine Valley. He was so dedicated that he would stay out no matter the weather. His passion caught the eye of Burton Snowboards when he was only seven. This led to his first sponsorship!

In 2010, Kyle won first place at the Burton Open Junior Jam. This victory helped him gain a lot of attention and pushed his career forward.

School and Competitions

Kyle attended Brother Rice High School in Birmingham, Michigan. However, he missed many school days because he was traveling for competitions. To keep up with his studies, he transferred to Pontiac High School. There, he took online classes and successfully graduated.

In 2011, Kyle was invited to join the US Snowboarding Team. Since then, he has competed in many different countries. He has also participated in several Dew Tours and Grand Prix events.

Major Achievements

Kyle won two bronze medals at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2015. He earned one in Big Air and another in Slopestyle. In 2016, he placed second at the Los Angeles stop of the Air & Style tour.

His biggest win came on March 4, 2016, when he took first place at the US Open in Men's Slopestyle. Then, at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Kyle won a silver medal in the Men's Big Air final, which was a huge accomplishment.
