Kyohei Yamagata's Football Journey
Kyohei Yamagata was born in Kitakyushu, Japan, on September 7, 1981. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career.
Early Career and First Steps
In 2000, Kyohei joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima, a club in the J1 League. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football league. Even though he was part of the team, he didn't get to play much in matches during his first few years. In 2003, his club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, moved down to the J2 League, which is the second division of Japanese football.
Becoming a Regular Player
In 2004, Kyohei made a big move to Avispa Fukuoka. This club was based in his home area and played in the J2 League. At Avispa Fukuoka, Kyohei became a key player, meaning he played in most of the team's matches. His strong performance helped Avispa Fukuoka get promoted back to the J1 League in 2006.
It was also exciting for Kyohei because his younger brother, Tatsunori Yamagata, joined Avispa Fukuoka in 2005. They got to play football together on the same team! However, in 2006, Kyohei didn't play as much, and Avispa Fukuoka went back down to the J2 League after just one year in the top division. In 2007, Kyohei once again became a regular player for the team.
Final Years in Football
In 2008, Kyohei Yamagata moved to V-Varen Nagasaki, a club playing in the Japanese Regional Leagues. These leagues are below the J1 and J2 Leagues. He played many matches for V-Varen Nagasaki that year. At the end of the 2008 season, Kyohei decided to retire from professional football. He played a total of 134 league matches and scored 20 goals throughout his career.
