Tatsunori Yamagata's Football Journey
Starting His Career
Tatsunori Yamagata was born in Kitakyushu, Japan. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Albirex Niigata in 2002. This club played in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football league. Tatsunori quickly started playing in matches as a right-side defender.
In 2004, he moved to a club in Singapore called Albirex Niigata Singapore. This was a new experience for him, playing in a different country.
Back to Japan: Avispa Fukuoka
In 2005, Tatsunori returned to Japan. He joined Avispa Fukuoka, another club in the J2 League. His older brother, Kyohei, also played for Avispa from 2004 to 2007.
Tatsunori did not play many matches until 2006. However, in 2007, he became a regular player as a right-side defender. Avispa Fukuoka was promoted to the J1 League, Japan's top league, at the end of the 2010 season. Sadly, Avispa returned to J2 after just one year, at the end of the 2011 season.
Moving to Tochigi SC and Kataller Toyama
In 2012, Tatsunori moved to Tochigi SC, a club also in the J2 League. He played many matches for them each season. However, Tochigi finished in last place in the 2015 season. This meant they were moved down to the J3 League, which is the third-highest league.
In 2017, he moved to Kataller Toyama, a club in the J3 League. Tatsunori Yamagata decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2017 season.
