The Sad Ending
As they get close to the exit, Orpheus worries. He cannot hear Eurydice behind him. He fears she is not there. He turns around to check. At that moment, Eurydice vanishes forever. Orpheus returns to the world alone and full of sorrow.

Claudio Monteverdi was a very important Italian composer. He lived from 1567 to 1643. He is known for writing both madrigals (songs for several voices) and operas.
