L. Grace Spencer, born on March 15, 1968, is an American politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She served in the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 29th Legislative District, from 2008 to 2016. Since July 2016, she has been a judge in the New Jersey Superior Court.

About Grace Spencer
Grace Spencer grew up in the South Ward of Newark, New Jersey. She has lived there since 1979. She went to Queen of Angels grammar school in Newark. In 1986, she graduated from Mount Saint Dominic Academy in Caldwell, New Jersey.
She continued her education at Rutgers University–Newark. In 1992, she earned a degree in business management. She then studied law at the Rutgers School of Law – Newark. She received her law degree in 1996.
After law school, Ms. Spencer became a lawyer. She can practice law in New Jersey. She can also argue cases in front of the United States Supreme Court. Before becoming a lawmaker, she worked for the city of Newark. She was an Assistant Corporation Counsel from 1997 to 1999. She also worked as a special prosecutor from 2000 to 2003.
Her Time in the Assembly
Grace Spencer became a member of the New Jersey General Assembly in 2008. She represented the 29th Legislative District. This district includes parts of Essex and Union counties. She was re-elected several times, serving two-year terms.
While in the Assembly, she worked on important committees. She was the Chair of the Environment and Solid Waste Committee. She was also the Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Committee. This committee handles how the state spends its money. She also served on the Women and Children Committee.
In May 2016, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie chose Ms. Spencer to become a judge. The New Jersey Senate approved her nomination. She resigned from the Assembly on June 30, 2016. After she left, Blonnie R. Watson was chosen to take her place.
Bills She Supported
As an Assemblywoman, Grace Spencer supported new laws. One bill she sponsored was A3221. This bill would create rules for how pets should be kept safe in cars. It aimed to make sure pets are properly restrained while traveling.
