La Escondida is a small community located in Starr County, Texas, in the United States. It is a census-designated place (CDP). A CDP is an area that the United States Census Bureau identifies for gathering statistics. It's not an officially incorporated town or city with its own local government.
La Escondida is a newer CDP. It was created from a part of the former Los Villareales CDP before the 2010 census.

La Escondida is found in the southern part of Texas. Its exact location is at coordinates 26.380650 degrees north latitude and -98.873727 degrees west longitude. This places it in a region known for its warm climate.
Population and History
The population of La Escondida has grown since it was first recognized as a CDP. In the 2010 U.S. Census, the community had 153 people. By the 2020 census, its population had increased to 183 people.
La Escondida was one of five CDPs created from the larger Los Villareales CDP. The other new CDPs formed at that time were La Esperanza, Santel, Mi Ranchito Estate, and Ranchitos del Norte. This change helped the Census Bureau collect more specific data about these smaller communities.
