La Moncada is a small town located in the Tarimoro Municipality of Guanajuato, Mexico. About 5,100 people live here. The town was founded in 1877 and was first known as La Moncada San José. It is situated on the road that connects Tarimoro City to Federal Highway 51, which goes between Celaya and Salvatierra.

Learning and Schools

La Moncada has several schools for its young residents. There are two public elementary schools: Primaria José María Morelos y Pavón and Primaria Netzahualcóyotl. There is also one private elementary school, Primaria Niños Héroes, which is a Catholic school.

For middle school, most students from La Moncada travel to nearby towns. They attend Secundaria Emiliano Zapata in Charco Largo or Secundaria María Fuentes Sandoval in Tarimoro City.

Faith and Community

La Moncada is in a part of Mexico called the Bajío region, where many people are Catholic. Because of this, the town's population is very religious.

The main church in La Moncada is San José Obrero. This church becomes a lively meeting place every Sunday afternoon, bringing the community together. Besides the main church, there are three smaller chapels spread around town. These include Capilla San José Carpintero, Capilla de la Virgen de Guadalupe, and Capilla San Antonio. La Moncada actually has more religious buildings than Tarimoro City, even though Tarimoro City is much larger!
