La Tour, also known as Latour, is a small community in Johnson County, Missouri, in the United States. It is not an official city or town. In 2000, 65 people lived there, and it was considered a village.
However, in 2009, La Tour stopped being an official village. By 2010, it was called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it is a place the government counts for population, but it does not have its own local government. In 2020, the population was still 65 people.
History of La Tour
La Tour was started in 1885. It got its name from the Latour family, who lived in the area. A post office opened there in 1886 and stayed open until 1997.
On April 13, 2009, La Tour officially stopped being a village. This happened after people in the community voted on April 7. The vote was 20 to 1 in favor of stopping the village's official status.
Where is La Tour Located?
La Tour is in the southwestern part of Johnson County. It is located on Missouri Route 2. The community is about 14 miles (23 km) east of Harrisonville. It is also about 36 miles (58 km) west of Windsor.
The community is just southwest of where two streams meet: Camp Branch and Big Creek.
According to the United States Census Bureau, La Tour covers an area of about 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometers). This is about the same size as when it was a village. A very small part of this area, about 0.33%, is water.

In 2000, there were 65 people living in La Tour. These people lived in 23 households, and 18 of these were families. The community had about 583 people per square mile. Most of the people (about 97%) were White.
