How Lab Made Started
Lab Made was created in July 2012 by Ronnie Cheng Hong-wang and Jennifer Chiu. They used to be pharmacists. While working in England, they found out about liquid nitrogen ice cream. They loved it so much that they brought the idea back to Hong Kong. Their first ice cream shop opened in Tin Hau.
In August 2013, a newspaper called the South China Morning Post wrote about Lab Made. They said it was a great example of a new and creative business idea.
Today, Lab Made no longer has regular shops where you can walk in. Instead, they offer special catering services for events. They also put on fun and educational shows. These shows teach people about science while making delicious ice cream!
How They Make Ice Cream
Lab Made uses a special way to make their ice cream. They mix the ingredients with liquid nitrogen using KitchenAid mixers. Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold, about -196 degrees Celsius. When it touches the ice cream mix, it turns into a gas vapor. This super cold gas freezes the ice cream very quickly. It makes the ice cream extra smooth and creamy!
Delicious Flavors
Lab Made has offered many different and exciting flavors of liquid nitrogen ice cream. Some of their past flavors have included yummy treats like apple crumble and strawberry cheesecake. They also made unique flavors inspired by Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong crispy toast and mooncake. Other popular flavors included sticky toffee pudding.
