The Sweet History of Lacasa
Lacasa S.A. has a very long and interesting history. It is the oldest chocolate factory in Spain!
How It All Started
The company began way back in 1852. A person named José Lacasa Piens started it in Jaca, a small town near the Pyrenees mountains. From those humble beginnings, Lacasa S.A. has grown a lot over the years. It has become one of the top sweet makers in Europe.
Growing and Improving Quality
Lacasa S.A. was also one of the first companies to get a special award called the ISO 9002 Quality Certification. This means their products meet very high standards for quality and safety.
In the 1990s, Lacasa started to grow even more. They made their factory in Utebo bigger in 1991. They also bought other companies that made sweets, like Productos Mauri, Bombonera Vallisoletana, and Chocolates del Norte. This helped them offer even more tasty products.
Recognizing Hard Work
In May 1998, a special award was given to Carmen Echeverría. She was recognized for her great work in leading the Lacasa company. This award came from the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Loyola de Palacio.
