Lacey Schwartz Delgado (born January 9, 1977) is an American filmmaker. She is also known as the Second Lady of New York. This is because her husband, Antonio Delgado, is the Lieutenant Governor of New York. Lacey Schwartz Delgado is famous for her 2015 documentary film, Little White Lie.

Lacey's Early Life

Lacey Schwartz was born in 1977. Her parents were Robert and Peggy Schwartz. She grew up in Woodstock, New York, in a Jewish family. When she applied to college, she did not choose a race on her application. However, the college saw her photo and thought she was Black. So, she was accepted as a Black student.

Lacey did not know she had a mixed racial background. She learned that Rodney Parker, an African American man, was her biological father. This was a big surprise. She found out the truth when she talked to her mother in college.

Her Career and Film

Lacey Schwartz Delgado made a PBS documentary called Little White Lie. In this film, she shares her unique story. She talks about growing up and how finding out her true racial identity helped her feel more at peace.

Lacey was raised to believe she was only white and Jewish. But in high school and college, she started to wonder about her background. Her film follows her journey to discover the truth. She learned about the secrets her family kept from her.

At Georgetown University, she joined the Black Student Alliance. There, she felt a connection with other students. She realized her experience was similar to theirs. Later, she went to Harvard Law School. This is where she met her future husband, Antonio Delgado.

As she grew up, Lacey often asked her parents about her identity. They would tell her that a very dark-skinned ancestor in their family album was a Sicilian Jew. This explanation was enough when she was a child. But in college, her African-American friends looked at her in a way that made her think differently. By the time she was in her thirties and making her film, the truth had come out. The family secret about her biological father was revealed. This also led to her parents' marriage ending.

Lacey was born about 10 years after a very important court case. This case made it legal for people of different races to marry. After this, many children were born to parents who were Black and white. Lacey's experience was part of this new trend.

Lacey's Family Life

In 2011, Lacey Schwartz married Antonio Delgado. Her husband used to be a U.S. Representative. In 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul chose him to be the Lieutenant Governor of New York. Because of this, Lacey became the second lady of New York. She has two identical twin boys. They live in Dutchess County, New York.
