Exploring Lacjac: A California Community
Lacjac is located in the beautiful state of California, in a part called Fresno County. It sits about 2 miles (or 3.2 kilometers) west-northwest of a town named Reedley. The area is fairly flat, with Lacjac being about 348 feet (or 106 meters) above sea level. This community is also near the tracks of the historic Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad.
How Lacjac Got Its Name
The name "Lacjac" has an interesting story! It was created in 1899 by a man named Daniel J. Ellis. He built a winery and a distillery there. To name the place, he took parts of the names from a company he worked with: "Lachman & Jacobi." He combined "Lac" from Lachman and "Jac" from Jacobi to form "Lacjac."
