History of Lacy
The area where Lacy is today was settled by people who were once enslaved. They moved there after the Civil War ended. A church was started before the year 1900. This church became a very important place for the community.
In the 1930s, Lacy had a church, a cemetery, and a few houses. By the early 1990s, about 20 families still lived in Lacy. Most of these families were descendants of the first settlers. The population was recorded as 44 people in the year 2000.
Where is Lacy?
Lacy is located in the northern part of Trinity County. You can find it along Farm to Market Road 3317. It is about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of a town called Groveton.
